Lakeside School Board Restores Opt-Outs for Parents on Sexually Explicit Story Books

Last week, I introduced and passed a policy in Lakeside schools that aligns our district with the Supreme Court decision Mahmoud v. Taylor – a decision that restores opt-outs for parents on sexually explicit story books that could be used classrooms.

The policy I proposed gives parents back the power to opt out their students from supplemental curriculum that includes sexually explicit material in classes as early as Kindergarten.
The CA Department of Education is threatening schools to not to implement these changes and instead demand schools hide curriculum from parents.

That’s why over the next few weeks I’m launching a new campaign called the “San Diego Parents and Family Rights Coalition” to share this news with parents and voters across San Diego County and to put pressure on other districts to join our continued fight for parents and families.

I won’t stop fighting for parents’ rights, regardless of the pressure Sacramento puts on me but to do that I need your help
